¿Quiénes somos?

El Centro de Estudios para Invidentes, A.C. (CEIAC), es un centro de apoyo para personas ciegas y con baja visión que nace en la ciudad de Chihuahua, Chih., en 1995 como una asociación civil, para intentar resolver la problemática que enfrentan las personas con algún impedimento visual. Inicia atendiendo a dos jóvenes ciegas que no habían concluido la educación primaria y enfrentaban el reto de continuar sus estudios en el sistema regular.

Hoy nuestras primeras usuarias son madres de familia y laboran en empresas de la entidad. Actualmente son más de 600 personas con discapacidad visual al año, las que reciben los servicios del CEIAC en el Estado de Chihuahua.

Mission

Facilitar a las personas con discapacidad visual las herramientas que les permitan su independencia en el entorno escolar, laboral, familiar y social, promoviendo la inclusión, de manera que sus decisiones de vida estén centradas en su potencial

Vision

Ser una Institución con un modelo de atención efectivo, replicando su impacto a nivel nacional, generando egresados gestores de su diario vivir. Siendo un centro evaluador de procesos de atención inclusiva en el tema de discapacidad visual, con solidez financiera colaborando con diversas instituciones en el desarrollo de programas y mejora de políticas públicas para construir una sociedad civil más incluyente.

Philosophy

Brindar a las personas ciegas y con baja visión las habilidades y el apoyo para desarrollar al máximo su potencial humano, rompiendo con los esquemas tradicionales de la educación especial y buscando su integración plena al mundo hecho para personas que ven.

Our history

Some important points in our history.

  • The Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), Campus Chihuahua, offered the users of the Center the possibility of taking diplomas in English, with a 100% scholarship.
  • The Chihuahua State Information Center (CIDECH) channeled its cultural heritage in Braille to the CEIAC.
  • The support of IBM de México and Sedesol, which facilitated access to cutting-edge computing technology for the blind.
  • Second program funded by the EU called "Educational Inclusion Program for students with visual and hearing disabilities and language problems in the state of Chihuahua".
  • Low Vision Symposium.
  • Construction of Sensorial Park begins
  • Participation in the VII Latin American Meeting of Socially Responsible Companies.
  • Nuestro Video “Tú eres la herramienta” llega a finalista Caracol de Plata.
  • Inicia exposición Percepciones en Museo del Desierto.
  • First user of Cd. Juárez graduated from university.
  • Dinner in the dark with Mennonite community
